Press Release

Country recording artists, Waterloo Revival and Mo Pitney will be  the headliners, when MusicFest Westfield kicks off at Park Square in the center of Westfield, on Thursday, June 25 at 7:00 pm.

Produced by Westfield on Weekends, Inc. in collaboration with Noble Hospital and iHeart Radio, MusicFest is the third annual series of free summer concert series on the city’s town green.

“The green is the perfect venue for outdoor concerts and we anticipate huge audiences as in past years,” Danielle Veronesi, marketing director for iHeart Radio said. “This year’s season of performers is particularly exceptional featuring four rising country stars, as well as one of the finest tribute bands on the East Coast.”

In addition to Waterloo Revival, the series will include RaeLynn of  NBC TV’s “The Voice”  with singer/songwriter Logan Mize (Thursday, July 16) and “Bruce in the USA,”  a popular Bruce Springsteen tribute band from New York (Thursday, August 20).

As headliners for the first concert, Waterloo Revival, is comprised of Cody Cooper and George Birge, whose first single “Hit the Road,” has had a positive response from both radio programmers and critics across the country, since debuting earlier this year.

Cooper and Birge began writing songs in their hometown of Austin, Texas, and the self-proclaimed “Live Music Capital of the World.”  Their band’s name honors Austin, which was originally named Waterloo.

Cooper and Birge decided to go professional, after attending the University of North Texas and the University of Texas, respectively.  Their self-promoted 5-song CD eventually led to their getting signed to a contract with TKO Music, Toby Keith’s management.

After moving to Nashville, they caught the ear of American Idol mentor and President and CEO Scott Borchetta of the Big Machine Records, who signed them to his roster of artists, which includes Taylor Swift, Rascal Flatts and Tim McGraw.

Joining Waterloo Revival will be Mo Pitney, another new name in country music. A singer-songwriter from Cherry Valley, Illinois, Pitney earned his first standing ovation at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry last June, when he performed two of his own songs.

Since then he has been on tour promoting his debut album and his first single “Country,” which he wrote with Country Music Hall of Famer Bill Anderson and writer Bobby Tomberlin. Equally adept on the guitar, banjo, bass and drums, Pitney has been highly influenced by bluegrass artists like J.D. Crowe and Tony Rice and the generations of musicians in his family.

“Many MusicFest audience members choose to frequent the various food vendors, WOW has assembled for the series.” Barbara Trant, Musicfest Chair and Treasurer of Westfield on Weekends explained.  “We offer beer and wine, as well as a variety of ethnic and American foods and for the first concert this summer we are also pleased to have a Strawberry Festival booth from the Church of Atonement.”

Bruce in the USAThursday, August 20th

Bruce in the U.S.A.

Starts at 7:00pm

Bruce In The USA is much more than just another tribute…

This high-energy musical experience is a note-perfect and visually accurate recreation of a Bruce Springsteen & The E St. Band show.

This high end, powerhouse, band has taken this genre of performance art to a whole new level, making it the World’s #1 Tribute to the E Street Band’s musical legacy. To millions of diehard fans around the world, it’s Springsteen’s marathon, party-like performances that have elevated him to hero status. Bruce’s legendary concerts (in the largest arenas) sell-out within hours of their announced sale. For those even lucky enough to get a ticket, there was nothing that could fill the aching void in between Bruce’s long-awaited tours…until now….

“Bruce In The USA is the ultimate celebration of Bruce Springsteen & The E St. Band’s legacy”.
