THE MYSTERY OF THE HAUNTED HARVEST

CHAPTER 3:
It was a dark and stormy night in Whip City- a perfect night for man and beast.

Brad and Janet Whippersnapper had planned to participate in WOW’s third annual HAUNTED HARVEST PUB AND RESTAURANT TOUR in October 2014 but something was in their way. A Big Something!

“Brad, I am afraid that we cannot go,” Janet said to her husband as they drove around Whip City’s new Park Square.

“Why not, Janet? The $14 admission ticket is afforable and it helps to keep community events like this happening.” Brad said, pushing up his horned rimmed glasses from the tip of his nose, so that he could get a better view of the sparkling fountain on the green.

“There is just no way I can pull a costume together by tomorrow night, Brad! You know how picky I am when it comes to COSTUMES …even though they are OPTIONAL.

“Dammit, Janet. That is no excuse. Just because you are not allowed to wear masks or have a painted face doesn't mean you can't dress for this year’s THEME of "HOLLYWOOD MOVIES and you have a closetful of choices,” Brad responded. “And as a Miss Hollywood Vintage Diva you are sure to win a prize! ”

(He knew his wife well and refused to let anything keep them from attending. What was she talking about ? She had even won one of the GREAT PRIZES last year, when she went as The Wicked Witch of the West and this year, the tour was going to be the best ever with MORE PRIZES at each one of the NINE OR MORE STOPS at WHIP CITY’S FAVORITE HAUNTS. The MOVIE TRIVIA CONTESTS and CANDY COUNTER COUNTDOWN throughout Whip City’s downtown gave them even more chances to win.)

As they passed MINA'S WINE & SPIRITS on ELM STREET, Brad pointed out where WOW and The BID, would set up the registration booth in the spooky vacant lot nearby.

“Look Janet , we’ve got plenty of time to sign up from 6:30 to 9:30 PM and if we can get it together for the RED CARPET BLOCK PARTY right after registering, all the better. We can even have our pictures taken with Marilyn Monroe and enjoy the new Octoberfest Ale from the Westfield River Brewing Company!”

“Marilyn Monroe!" Janet exclaimed. "Oh, great."

“Here's an idea Janet, you be Angelina and I'm already Brad!” Brad answered.

They were home at last. As they drove into their driveway, Brad noticed something strange.

“That’s curious,” Brad said. “There’s a light on over at the Frankenstein place.”
