WOW’s Creative Arts Center, 105 Elm Street, Westfield
Westfield on Weekends will present a free special artist’s reception to conclude its popular DecemberFest 2024 gallery exhibit “Once Upon a Winter’s Day,” Sunday January 26 from noon to 3pm at WOW’s Creative Arts Center, 105 Elm Street in downtown Westfield.
Featuring the work of Westfield artists Marie Crane-Yvon,James Johnson-Corwin and Lisa Sunderland Burns; award-winning watercolorist Cathy Giudetti, who teaches classes at the Center and Westfield photographer Jacob Fleron, the exhibit celebrates the poetry of Robert Frost.
Each of the participating artists contributed artworks representing lines from Frost’s classic poem, “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.” Gallery co- curators James Johnson-Corwin and Bob Plasse worked with Westfield florist Colleen Bresnahan of Colleen Bresnahan Floral to mount a colorful woodland backdrop, complete with snow and Northern Lights to enhance the gallery space.
For the reception, pianist Bryan Brophy will offer a wintry mix of background music played on the Center’s Steinway piano, while WOW will offer baked goods, coffee, cocoa and cider to attendees.
The exhibit was funded in part with a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, Westfield.
The Center’s next exhibit, “Journey Stories: The Historic Quilts of Edjohnetta Miller” will open in early February.
Westfield on Weekends, Inc (WOW) is a 501 (c)(3) volunteer not-for-profit organization, founded in 2003 to produce diverse, accessible and affordable events that enhance and celebrate diversity and community life in Westfield.
