Up Close & Musical Series

Westfield on Weekend's Up Close and Musical program is a series of large and small recitals with students and faculty performers from Westfield State University. The music spans the ages from Beethoven to Broadway!

Our exciting program is happening throughout the downtown area, at Westfield State University and at our Creative Arts Center at 105 Elm Street!

“On behalf of Westfield on Weekends and our Up Close and Musical Program, we thank you for joining the 4th season as we continue to collaborate with the University and local venues to offer free, fantastic music to our city. We look forward to seeing you in December for some exciting offerings.” said Kathi Bradford, Director of the Creative Arts Center.

Critics have said that there has never been a funnier English version of Johann Strauss, Jr.’s comic operetta, Die Fledermaus than this one, reimagined by lyricist Josh Shaw as the madcap story of love gone wrong and right in the Golden Age of Hollywood. Recently performed by a talented cast at Westfield State, it has been adapted for WOW’s Creative Art Center and is the University’s holiday gift to downtown audiences, as part of WOW’s free Up Close and Musical program. Seating is on a first come – first served basis.

“Up Close and Musical” is partially funded with a grant from the Westfield Cultural Council, a local program of the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

WOW’s Creative Arts Center is a program of Westfield on Weekends, a 501 (c)(3) volunteer non-profit which seeks to enhance community life through accessible and affordable programming that celebrates the diversity of life in Westfield.
